San Cristóbal de la Barranca, en vías de convertirse en pueblo fantasma. Por el lugar solía pasar un río cristalino, abundante en peces y camarones, al que cada fin de semana llegaban cientos de turistas a echarse un clavado en las aguas y disfrutar de la tupida vegetación. Aquí se acostumbraba a sembrar maíz y algunas especies de frutas.
En la actualidad, San Cristóbal de la Barranca es un sumidero de la severa contaminación que afecta al río Santiago. Su historia no dista mucho de la de El Salto y Juanacatlán, donde también hace unos 30 años la gente de la Zona Metropolitana de Guadalajara acudía a nadar y acampar en sus alrededores. No existe más un equilibrio ecológico, no hay aire puro ni agua limpia; no más plantas ni animales, ni tierras fértiles. No hay más fuentes de recreación y, a cambio de todo eso, la población tiene que soportar enjambres de zancudos, alergias, infecciones respiratorias, asma bronquial, leucemias, linfomas, insuficiencia renal, urticaria, conjuntivitis, vértigo, cefalea crónica y otros males. All'ombra di Soter
Questa immagine vuole essere un omaggio al fotografo Soter Mulé, www.flickr.com/photos/glc/ mio amico. Questa immagine l'ho scaricata dal suol stream, perché la trovo affascinante. La sua modella ha saputo dare il meglio della sua capacità interpretativa suggerendomi un diverso punto di vista. Questo lavoro non vuole essere una competizione, ma semplicemente il riconoscimento del grande valore che l'immagine prodotta da Soter ha.

Aufeis accumulates during winter along stream and river valleys in arctic and subarctic environments. Aufeis forms by upwelling of river water behind ice dams, or by ground-water discharge. The latter mechanism prevails in high-gradient alpine streams as they freeze solid. Ground-water discharge is blocked by ice, perturbing the steady-state condition, and causing a small incremental rise in the local water table until discharge occurs along the bank at the top of the previously formed ice. Successive ice layers can lead to aufeis accumulations that are several meters thick. Aufeis typically melts out during summer and will form in the same place year after year (Hu and Pollard, 1997).
